Resume.io, a leading online resume builder, conducted a comprehensive analysis of thousands of Instagram posts with the hashtag #digitalnomad to determine the current trends and popular work locations of today's remote workforce.
For the study, Resume.io carefully analyzed the Instagram posts and ensured that spam accounts and bots were excluded from the dataset. Using geotag information or mentions of countries in the text of the post, researchers were able to determine the location of digital nomads.
The main findings of the analysis are as follows:
1. London is becoming the global hub for digital nomads in Europe and around the world
with an incredible 20,556 Instagram posts under the hashtag #digitalnomad, London has established itself as the most popular destination for digital nomads worldwide.
Despite the high cost of accommodation, London's appeal lies in its excellent travel connections, vibrant expat communities, multicultural environment, and fast Wi-Fi networks.
2. New York City tops the list as the digital nomad capital of the U.S. and North America
The vibrant metropolis of New York City tops the list for digital nomads in North America. New York City is known for its dynamic business environment and attracts remote workers from a variety of industries.
Coastal cities in the U.S. are the preferred destinations for digital nomads, as each offers a unique lifestyle and opportunities for exploration.

3. Bangkok ranks second in the world and dominates the digital nomad scene in Thailand
