Madrid is a great place for visitors and locals at just about any time of year, but June brings with it some truly special events, festivals, and exhibitions that you simply cannot miss out on. So here are the best things to do in Madrid in June 2022.

June performances in Madrid

Let’s start with music. Madrid will see the 60th-anniversary tour of The Rolling Stones on June 1st at the Metropolitan Stadium. The Whitney Houston Hologram Tour had its premiere in Madrid in April and June 25th is the last time you can see this show here, so don’t miss out. There’s also Charli XCX on June 7th and Dua Lipa on June 3rd.

One of the largest music festivals happening this month is the Madrid Escena. You can expect greats like James Blunt on June 8th, Simply Red on June 9th, and Jason Derulo on June 19th. There’s also the Madrid Puro Reggaeton Festival on June 24th and 25th as well as the unmissable Madrid Fado Festival 2022 on June 25th and 26th.

The whole month, you should also lookout for the Musical strolls around the Botanical Garden. The idea is to bring to the wider audience the Four Seasons compositions by Vivaldi as orchestrated by Ara Malikain. Thursdays to Sundays will bring the Italian classic into the beautiful surroundings of the park.

If you love a good show, then you cannot miss out on the El Mago Pop, one of the largest illusionist shows in Europe. They play from Fridays to Sundays and have new material that hasn’t been seen before. from April to June 14th, you can enjoy the 37th edition of the Madrid en Danza Festival which brings together dancers from all over the world. And lastly, if you want to have great music and flamenco dancing in one place, check out the Gipsy Freestyle which ends on June 10th.

Events in Madrid in June

June 12th sees the conclusion of the Madrid Book Fair, so you have the last chance to see your favorite local and international authors. Similarly, June 5th marks the end of the 19th edition of DocumentaMadrid 2022, the international documentary festival.

You can also enjoy more touristy events like the Changing of the Guard at the Royal Palace every Wednesday and Saturday. And speaking of traditions, if you love antiques, old coins, vintage items, paintings, and much more then you simply have to visit the El Rastro which sees the largest flea markets in Madrid every Saturday. And if you’re looking for something a bit more chic, why not visit the Mercadillo del Gato which simply shouts elegance. See the best the city can offer between June 23rd and 26th.

Madrid is also home to some of the best exhibitions in all of Europe. There’s the KLIMT: The Immersive Experience exhibition which ends on June 19th, and the Andy Warhol Super Pop which ends on June 5th. There’s also Daughters of the Nile Women and Society in Ancient Egypt which begins on June 10th. You might also want to check out the well know Alex Katz whose retrospective begins on June 11th. And finally, you can enjoy the Frida Kahlo: wings to fly exhibition for the whole month.
