Budapest is a fantastic city full of beautiful architecture, amazing accommodation for rent, fun people, exciting events and an endless supply of great art. But we all have only so much time, and so without further ado, here are the top four things to do in Budapest in April 2022.
Explore the historic centres of Buda and Pest
The sights in these two parts of the city are part of the historical heritage of the entire nation and, as such, should have a special place in the hearts of any history buffs and cultural enthusiasts.
Buda brings landmarks such as the Margaret Bridge, Fisherman’s Bastion, and Matthias Church together with the gorgeous view of the city from Gellért Hill.
On the other hand, Pest has the more modern Hungarian Parliament, Liberty Square, St. Stephen’s Basilica, and more. Pest, unlike Buda, is also much flatter, meaning that it’s an excellent place for sightseeing on bikes or electric scooters

Budapest Spring Festival
Two weeks in April each year change the entire city of Budapest into a festival of all contemporary art. Over a hundred events connected with the Spring Festival, from concerts, jazz performances, and other music venues to cinemas showing new films, theatres are running their new plays, and contemporary singers and bands are playing in nearly sold-out venues. It is the largest festival in all of Hungary, and you should make sure you don’t miss out on it.
However, make sure you have

before you arrive since the city is full to bursting with visitors of the festival.
Sparty bath party
In their outdoor baths, the Széchényi baths in Budapest have an annual set of parties on the 2nd, 9th, 16th, 23rd, and 30th April. This is easily one of the most significant and most unique parties you will ever see with 3D projections, laser shows, dancers, live DJs and much, much more.
If you’re having a hard time imagining it, think of it as a pool party in an Art Nuevo spa with thousands of people having a good time while one of the most significant DJs and light shows are going off everywhere around you. If you like a good time of any kind, you cannot miss out on this one.
Easter in Budapest
Each year on the Vörösmarty Square, this fair offers a look into folk history and traditions. While it mainly focuses on selling traditional handmade goods like pottery, weaved baskets, and ironworks from blacksmiths, it sees people create these things in real life, giving a great showcase of folk traditions.
There are also family sessions giving kids an opportunity to learn more about the process of creating folk art through beading, felting, and more.
If you’re in Budapest with your family during the Easter festivities, make sure to give them a look.
