I have already paid the rent, but the payment still appears as unpaid. Why is that?

Find out how the payments work, how you can recognize if something went wrong, and how to handle any of the possible issues.

We change the payment status from "unpaid" to "paid" as soon as we receive the payment.

  • In the case of online payments (via Google/Apple Pay, your card, or bitcoin), we receive the payment immediately.
  • In the case of a bank transfer, it usually takes 2-3 business days for us to receive the payment.

Online payment failure

If you used any of the online payment methods, your payment still appears as unpaid and you can't find this charge in your bank account, it didn't go through. The most common reasons for this are:

  • There's an insufficient amount of cash in your account
  • The daily payment limit was reached
  • The payment limit for online payments was reached
  • The payment wasn't authorized via 3D Secure
  • The payment was blocked due to internal processes of your bank (e.g., due to an unusually higher payment amount, or a recipient in another country/on another continent)

If you can't fix the situation from your side, please contact your bank so they can help you with the solution.

Bank transfer

If you used a bank transfer method, the payment will be correctly marked as unpaid until we actually receive it.

As long as every payment detail is filled in correctly (especially the variable symbol), we'll recognize it as soon as it reaches us and we'll automatically connect it to your lease agreement. We also recommend that you upload the payment confirmation to your profile so that the landlord can see the payment is on the way.

However, if it's been over 3 days and the payment still appears as unpaid in your profile, we recommend that you contact our support team with the payment confirmation attached, and ask for a manual review of the situation. It may happen that the bank doesn't forward all the payment details to us, causing the payment to fall under unrecognized payments. In these cases, we need the payment confirmation to find it and to correctly connect it to your lease.
