According to a Norton Finance report, cited by UK magazine Time Out, Skopje, the capital of North Macedonia, is ranked as the best European city for digital nomads, with Sarajevo and Chisinau following closely behind. As remote work becomes more common due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Norton Finance evaluated 184 countries based on factors like rent, utilities, transportation, and internet costs.
Skopje tops the list due to its affordability and efficient public transport system, making it an ideal location for digital nomads.
Sarajevo comes in second, offering low rental prices, which is a significant advantage for remote workers.
Chisinau ranks third, known for its low-cost living, with expenses such as a pint of beer being particularly cheap.
Sofia and Bucharest hold the fourth and fifth positions, respectively, providing affordable living costs and good internet connectivity. Belgrade takes the sixth spot, combining low expenses with a lively cultural scene. On the other hand, Copenhagen and Dublin are considered less favorable for digital nomads due to their higher costs of living.
