Prague has a moderate continental climate. In winter, temperatures which are below freezing are the norm, and snow is also common. On the other hand, summers are usually pleasantly warm and filled with sunny days, although the occasional summer storm shouldn’t surprise you.

January

In January, the average temperature is between -4°C and 1°C. Snowfall is to be expected, but overall, there is not much precipitation.

February

On average, you can expect the temperature in February to be between -4°C and 3°C. Precipitation is generally low, just like in January.

March

In March, the weather finally starts warming up, with the average temperature being between 0°C and 8°C. Precipitation remains low, but some statistics say March is the windiest month, and while there is generally more warmth than in winter, the cold weather sometimes makes a comeback and snowfall is not altogether unusual.

April

The temperature generally ranges from 3°C to 14°C. There is more sun than in the previous months but beware of unpredictable April showers!

 

 

May

In May, you can expect the temperature to be between 8°C and 19°C, although it does sometimes climb into the 20s. May is one of the wettest months, but generally, the amount of precipitation is still moderate and there are many sunny days.

June

June is very pleasantly warm, with the temperature range being between 11°C to 22°C. Along with May, this is one of the two months when it rains the most, but there’s plenty of sunshine, too.

July

July is one of the warmest months, and you can expect temperatures between 13°C and 24°C, although, with the occasional heatwave, the mercury column can climb up to the 30s. It is generally very sunny and the precipitation is lesser than in June.

August

In August the weather is almost identical to July, but the evenings and nights can get a bit colder, especially in the second half of the month.

September

September is usually a bit colder, but still moderately warm, with the average temperature being between 9°C to 19°C. There is less sunshine than in the summer, but also less precipitation.

The temperature for this month ranges between 5°C and 13°C, so putting on a few more layers is advisable. Occasionally, though, the temperature still climbs up to the lower 20s. The precipitation is generally low.

November

The temperature dips significantly in November; on average, it is between 1°C to 6°C. November is also usually a bit rainier than October.

December

And finally, around Christmas time, you can expect the temperature to be between -3°C to 2°C. Precipitation is about the same as in November, but due to the freezing temperatures, it often takes the form of snow.
