Public Places for Remote Work in Porto

Working remotely means working from anywhere in the world. Despite that, a lot of remote workers still either work in a coworking space or at home. But there are tons of public spaces you can work in that will help you focus and explore Porto, Portugal.

Cafés in Porto for remote work

Cafés are great for remote workers. You have nice staff that bring you delicious food, coffee, tea, and more. You can stay for hours on end and in some cafés, you can meet other remote workers to share your experiences with. Plus, for some, being in a public space helps them with loneliness and concentration.

Porto is full of great cafés. Negra Café, for example, is very cosy, has electric sockets under the seats for charging, and even has a beautiful garden you can enjoy in the summer months. If you’re looking for something with an airier interior, look no further than Manna. This café has a courtyard that’s glassed-off to look a bit like a greenhouse. The clean modern design is great for focusing even if electric sockets are a bit harder to come by. Lastly, Fabrica Coffee Roasters is a great place for when you want to meet other remote workers and digital nomads. Its popularity helped its spread from Lisbon to Porto and it instantly became a hub for nomads. Try it out.

Libraries for remote work in Porto

Working in libraries is great. You get good Wi-Fi, unlimited access to sockets, a quiet space, and sometimes all of this is for free or a negligible fee. The downside is that you have to be quiet in most workspaces, which makes them a no go for group projects. However, there are only a few places these days where you can sit inside with access to electricity and the internet without having to buy something.

A great place to work is the Almeida Garrett Library. With tons of places to sit, a great number of sockets and good Wi-Fi, you’ll be focused on your work for hours. The downside is that it’s not open on Sundays and Monday mornings. For a more stable Monday to Friday opening schedule, try the FEUP Library, the largest library in Porto with over 400 seats. And if you’re looking for an inspiring space, try the Serralves Library. This art library is open every day and has tons of beautiful art to peruse.

Parks for remote work in Porto

Working in a park can be a great way to change your environment in apartment for rent in Porto and get some fresh air. Make sure you have some form of wireless internet connection (for example, creating a hotspot on your phone from your mobile data) and that you’re fully charged. Go to Parque da Cidade, The Crystal Palace Gardens, or Jardim das Virtudes for a calm space with greenery that will relax and inspire you. But since Porto is a port city, you can also fulfil the remote working dream and work on a beach. Go to Praia do Carneiro or Praia da Aguda and enjoy the most relaxing workday of your life.
