Few places in Spain are so full to bursting with opportunities quite like Madrid. Whether you want to have fun, meet new people, see fascinating art, or start new and exciting projects, the capital has something for everyone. But as remote workers, it can be isolating to always work from home and coworking spaces can be expensive. So, with that, here are some public spaces where you can work remotely in Madrid.
Cafés for remote work in Madrid
Cafés can be a great source of inspiration, networking, as well as a good way of battling loneliness. And with the coffee scene living strong in Madrid, there are tons of options from large, open-space coffee bars to cosy cafés with just a few chairs and moody lighting. There’s something for just about anyone.
Take Monkee Koffee, for example. The light and bright open space is complemented by a very friendly staff which makes the whole café that much more open to interaction. Not only is this a great place for networking, but it's also great for making friends and sharing the troubles of remote work.
A place that’s almost the exact opposite, and one that gets recommended often, is Delic. This café is much more moody and cosy. It serves pastry and snacks from all around the world and the longer you stay, the more it changes from a quiet café into an exciting bar. Getting your work done and socialising has never been easier. There are tons more to choose from like Café Mür, La Bicicleta, or 1000 Cups, but to list all the good cafés in Madrid would be impossible. Plus, we’d be robbing you of the joy of discovering them for yourself.

Libraries for remote work in Madrid
While cafés and coworking spaces are usually very lively and busy, some people prefer the quiet and serenity of a library. Public libraries in Madrid are especially well equipped to help remote workers and students find all the sources they need, have a good space to focus and have a reliable internet connection. What’s more, while some will require you to register (usually for a tiny fee) many libraries are completely free to access by anyone.
The best one is La Biblioteca Pública Municipal Iván de Vargas which is situated in the centre of Madrid and is even open on Sundays. The UNED Library is also well favoured, especially by those living in the nearby Lavapiés or Embajadores. The space is cosier and more traditional than in most libraries. Especially welcomed are the countless cubicles you can use for work which help you have more privacy. Lastly, the Biblioteca Pública Municipal Mario Vargas Llosa situated in Chamberi is without fees and registration-free with not so much as showing your passport. And if your computer is getting repaired, you can use one of theirs.
Parks for remote work in Madrid
Madrid is very warm for a large portion of the year and so it only makes sense to get out of your home and move outside into the sunshine. All you need is a fully charged device and mobile data on your phone for a hot spot. While you have an apartment in Madrid, working outside on a tablet or a laptop for a few hours can benefit not just your physical health but your mental health as well. Parks like Jardín del Príncipe de Anglona or Casa de Campo are perfect for any remote worker who needs a change of environment.
