Teodor Ivanovic is a 27 years old IT student from Serbia, currently living and working in Brno with his wife. He works for IBM as an Incident Manager, currently in Shift Leader's role.
In today’s post of our Interview Series with Tenants, Teodor will discuss what it’s like to live in Brno and his experience with Flatio.
Flatio: You have mentioned that your college is in Serbia, but you and your wife currently live in the Czech Republic. Why did you choose Brno to be your home?
Teodor: It was because of a job that my wife and I applied for in 2018. It has its offices in Brno. I'm pleased it happened after all this time because Brno is fantastic for us. The cost of living is much better than in most cities and countries that I know. Living in Brno is a beautiful experience (even more so before the pandemic, of course, but we'll get through that). There are so many beautiful and beautiful places to visit and things to try! The whole mentality and lifestyle are about enjoying everything as much as possible and being very relaxed and stress-free, which is not the case in most countries in these fast-paced, modern times. I have to admit that I would personally prefer if people in Brno spoke a little bit more English, but that's a tiny inconvenience, which I believe will be better in the future.
Flatio: When you moved to Brno with your wife, you found your accommodation through Flatio. Can you please tell me about this experience?
Teodor: I will never forget how Flatio representatives went above and beyond to help me when I needed help the most, and I am still amazed by it, and I have to add that not only it was my best experience with housing search, but it was also one of my best experiences with any service, ever! It was back in 2018. My girlfriend (now wife) and I had only 2-3 days left to find an apartment, get all the paperwork, and have it ready for the Embassy. I contacted Flatio on a Wednesday from Serbia, and a lady called Gabriela Macakova was the agent assigned to support me. By Friday morning, all the paperwork needed was complete and printed out, signed, and ready for me (in Brno, since I expressed that I need to come and get it as soon as possible, as there was not enough time to wait for the post-service). There wasn't a single issue with the whole process. Gabriela and I exchanged roughly 80-90 emails in those couple of days, and I was stunned by the professionalism, friendliness, and a genuine and honest will to help me. It was such a pleasant experience that I still have a lot of positivity. From the booking process to my actual stay, everything was excellent, smooth, and friendly from my authentic visit. The prices at Flatio are very appealing. Start costs are absolutely and undeniably the lowest. Customer experience is by far the greatest. Apartments, at least from my experience, are both in excellent condition and excellent areas. And of course ( this is especially good for new ex-pats), it was straightforward to live here by having both the rent and the bills included in one simple monthly payment. I will always be grateful to Flatio, and I will continue to promote it to people whenever I get a chance.
Flatio: Thanks for sharing your story with us, Teodor. It sounds like you are having a fantastic time in Brno. Can you tell us about your plans for the future?
Teodor: As a long-term plan, my wife and I would love to buy a property here, and I'm hoping that it would be possible shortly.
